南相馬サイエンスラボ（NPO）Minamisoma Science Lab (NPO)

「幸せって何だろう？」「不思議や疑問に挑戦しよう」というテーマで子どもたちが自分で考え、自分で発見する喜びを味わえるように、学校では学べないことが体験できるようなプログラムをいろいろ工夫しています。
主催者の斉藤実先生は理学博士、高校理科教員免許、上級バイオ技術者、ふくしま食育実践サポーターなどなど。体験のための田んぼ、畑もあります。カリタス南相馬に来られた方の現地案内でも時々、紹介しています。"What is happiness?" "Let's explore when you have questions or wonder why?" Dr. Minoru Saito offers various programs for children and young people to think and taste the joy of discovery through experiences, which is rare in school education.

小高マルシェ　Odaka Marché

小高交流センターにある小高マルシェ。毎週木曜から日曜日まで地元の農家の方達がそれぞれに作られた新鮮野菜を販売しています。その中で吉田さんと小幡さんのお二人は震災前からEM菌を使っての農業をされています。The Marché, (Farmers' Market), is in Odaka Community Center. The local farmers bring their own produce and sell them Thursday through Sunday. The vegetables are very fresh. The two women among the farmers are the first ones in Odaka to use EM bacteria* for farming since before the March 2011 disaster.　* Effective Microorganisms are bacteria naturally occurring in fermentation

カフェKAON 　Café KAON

 小高にあるカフェ。畑の真ん中にあるようなカフェですが､ケーキ､パンを作るのが上手な奥様とジャズが好きでおいしいコーヒーを作るのが好きなご主人とで経営されています。カオンは香音とも書き、コーヒーの香りとジャズの音楽から考えられたそうです。奥様は震災前は英語教室をもっていらしたそうです。週の半分、金曜から月曜日まで開いています。先日行った時、4時の閉店頃からミニコンサートをしますとのこと。知り合いの方達でバイオリン、ウクレレをはじめたばかりの方、そしてカフェの奥様と友人のオカリナ演奏。このカフェで何か一緒にできないかなという相談のために集まられたようですが、丁度、お客が何人かいたので、試しにやってみようかということだったようです。和やかな楽しいひとときでした。Café KAON is in the midst of rice paddies in Odaka. A married couple opened the café a couple of years ago. The husband loves jazz music and making coffee. The wife enjoys baking bread and cakes. The name of the café 'KA-ON' means the 'smell of coffee' and the 'sound of music.' The other day when I was there, just before the closing time came, they announced that they would perform a mini-concert. The violinist and the ukulele player, who had both started learning how to play their instruments two years ago, played a couple of lovely pieces. The owner of the café and her friend played some pieces on Ocarina. We enjoyed them very much. The players were there to discuss the possibility of having a mini concert there sometime in the near future, and seeing us having coffee, they decided to play for us. There was a very warm, family atmosphere.

小高英会話クラス再開 　English Conversation class at Odaka

コロナのためにしばらく休んでいた英会話教室を再開しました。皆、楽しみにしていて、喜んで集まって下さいました。英語も忘れず、よくおしゃべりもして、よく笑い（英語で？）、元気をいただきました。Due to COVID-19, the class had been cancelled for quite a while.The participants were really eager to reopen the class. I was happy to see that they hadn't forgotten English and enjoyed speaking and even laughing in English! It was energizing for all of us. The size of the group is very small, just 5 of us.
